Description
The congregation of Christ Church was founded in 1805 with services in a log cabin.ย In 1820 William McCormick constructed the first church building using limestone transported from Pelee Island. This stone church was situated within a cemetery with dates back to 1808, with the oldest known headstone belonging to Stephen Brush. Due to erosion from Lake Erie, a new white frame church was constructed in 1876 at 190 Bagot St, Colchester.
