Description

Bethesda Lutheran Cemetery is located on the south-west part of lot 17, Concession 6, in Markham Township – now the City of Markham. It is on the east side of Kennedy Road, north of 16th Avenue at the Berczy Settlement.

The Berczy settlers were a small group of German Lutherans who settled in the Markham area about 1792.  A church was built on the present cemetery site in 1816. While this building has since been replaced and there is no longer a church on-site, the cemetery has been in use since that time. As of the date of the transcription, the cemetery was still active.

The transcription, published in 1993, is 52 pages long and includes a short history, photos, a map, the inscriptions and an index.
