It is a given that the history of Canada is closely tied to that of the United States. And so, it follows that sometimes it is possible to learn more details about an ancestor through records from the other side of the border. Over the years, there has been a constant flow of ordinary people and fugitives from justice, as well as negotiations, government policies, ideas, products and even hostilities travelling back and forth. Many of these interactions have generated records useful to genealogists. This presentation illustrates many ways in which the sources for such records can be found and consulted.

Linda Corupe
Linda Corupe, U.E., has authored over 50 books on genealogy and history over the past 40 years. The descendant of a United Empire Loyalist from the Napanee, Ontario area, Linda earned her B.A. from McMaster University and is a member of the Ontario Genealogical Society, the United Empire Loyalist Association of Canada and the Ontario Historical Society. She is on the recommended researchers list at the Archives of Ontario, where she loves to spend time immersed in the history of our province.
