Description

– Lakeview Cemetery was originally opened in 1886 on Lot 14, Thorold.  In 1926, due to the construction of the Fourth Welland Canal, the St. Peter’s Church Cemetery was moved to what is now known as the old part of Lakeview Cemetery. In 1962, the remains in the cemetery at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church were also relocated to the old part of Lakeview Cemetery.

This document includes known gravestone inscriptions for all sections: Note that two full sets of publications have been combined here:

• The 2004/2006 revised publication of Sections A, B, C, D&M, E, F, G&H&L, M, N, is transcribed by rows, (indexed)
• The 1982/1984 publication is transcribed by grave #’s in individual Sections A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, L, M, N, (not indexed).
• Both sets include records of transfers from Holy Rosary Church Cemetery and St. Peter’s Church Cemetery, with additional notes from Hugh Jack, Esther Summers, and F. J. Campbell.
• Duplications of entries will offer varying detail on known transcriptions at the time of recording.
