Description
This is a collection of stories about those valiant men and woman who found themselves in the midst of battle in the War of 1812. Some took up arms; many of them lost everything they owned. When former President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, made the now famous remark, “The acquisition of Canada this year, as far as the neighborhood of Quebec, will be a mere matter of marching, and will give us experience for the attack of Halifax the next, and the final expulsion of England from the American continent.” He underestimated both the determination of Canadians and their First Nation allies to remain separate from the American Republic and the efforts of Britain to retain the northern part of North America.
