History:
Originally the site of an Episcopal Methodist Church, the congregation came to use the churchyard as a burial ground as early as 1846. With the Methodist Union of 1874, the church was used as a Sunday School and meeting house, and is currently used only once per year. The church continues to administer and maintain the cemetery.
The present White Brick Church located on Highway #53, Ancaster, Just east of Fiddlers Green RD, was built on land donated by John Rymal (1819 – 1859). It was dedicated on 11 October 1857. In 1884 the union of all the Methodist churches saw the closing of the church except for the Sunday School and quarterly meetings until 1920. Since then the church opens its doors each June celebrating an anniversary service, which has been called the “White Brick Service”.The White Brick Cemetery is no longer selling interment rights, it hasn’t been for many years actually. There are still some burials to come but the rights were part of plots sold previously. I am not sure who has ownership of the church and cemetery.
