We are seeking Data Collection Associates to support the ongoing development of our extensive surname database called TONI โ The Ontario Name Index โ which currently hasย 14,319,616 records indexed. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about history, data accuracy, and creating tools that support genealogical discovery.

Your Impact In This Role
As a Data Collection Associate, you will help extract, process, and index vital historical data, enabling researchers to uncover family connections and historical insights. Your work will directly support our mission to make Ontarioโs genealogical records more accessible and meaningful for researchers around the world.
Key Responsibilities
- Extract information from diverse historical records, such as registers, archival materials, and microfilms.
- Create detailed and accurate indexes to ensure seamless integration into the OGS surname database.
- Perform detailed indexing of digitized materials to ensure their metadata adheres to archival standards, making them easily searchable for researchers.
- Redact sensitive or private information while adhering to data protection policies and ethical guidelines.
- Prepare datasets for upload to the database, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with archival standards.
- Collaborate with the team to identify high-priority datasets and develop strategies for efficient data processing.
- Assist in maintaining database integrity by identifying and correcting inconsistencies in indexed data.
