Description

Eckardt Cemetery is located on part of the east half of Lot 7, Concession 6, Markham Township, now the City of Markham. It’s on the west side of McCowan Road, about one and a half kilometres south of Highway 7.

In 1830, Abraham Eckardt purchased this site from his father. Later, the Evangelical Association, supported by Abraham, built a church and cemetery on the site. By 1878, the church had gone but the cemetery remains. As of the date of the transcription publication, the cemetery was still active.

The transcription, published in 1993, is 15 pages long and consists of a short history, photos, a map, the inscriptions and an index.
