Description

Petchville Cemetery is located on the north-west corner of Aurora Road and Woodbine Avenue on Lot 21, Concession 3, Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.

Jonathan Petch and his wife, Sarah Gale, settled on the land in 1818. It is believed that the cemetery property was first used as the Petch family burial ground and later by members of the local community. There is a Wesleyan Methodist church on site, on land donated by Jonathan Petch in 1847.

The church celebrated the 100th anniversary of the present building in 1981. At that time the cemetery was designated as Wesley Pioneer Cemetery.

The transcription, published in 1998, has 19 pages, including a short history, a map, the inscriptions and an index.
