Description

Wideman Mennonite Cemetery is located on the east part of Lot 24, Concession 7, in Markham Township, now the City of Markham. It’s at 10530 Markham Road just north of the Wideman Mennonite Church.

This site was a burying ground for early pioneers; the earliest known marker is dated 1827. In 1845, the property was sold to the Trustees of the Mennonite Society for a meeting house and cemetery. Some prominent names of early settlers buried here include Hoover, Wideman, Ramer, Reesor and Grove.

The transcription, published in 1993, is 81 pages long and includes a short history, photos, a map, the inscriptions and an index.
