Description

Ramer Cemetery is located on Lot 14, Concession 8, Markham Township, now the City of Markham. It’s at the south end of Wales Avenue, one street east of Markham Road and south of 16th Avenue, on private property.  The north end of the old village of Markham is known as Mount Joy.

The Ramer family settled in Markham about 1809 and the cemetery began on the farm of Daniel Ramer. The earliest marker is dated 1833. Many markers are now broken and the majority have been cemented into a cairn. The cemetery is closed and maintained by the City of Markham.

The transcription, published in 1993, is 11 pages long and includes a short history, photos, a map, the inscriptions and an index.
