Description

Reverend William Jenkins was the first minister of Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church, dating from 1817. The church is located at 10066 Yonge Street on the west side just north of Major Mackenzie Drive.

Until 1831, Rev. Jenkins was the only non-conformist minister who could perform marriages in York County and several neighbouring townships. His circuit extended from Lake Ontario to Lake Simcoe and from the Township of Pickering to Esquesing, so this register covers many locations outside of Richmond Hill.

The original Register of Marriages, containing records of 861 marriages, is preserved in the Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church and may be viewed by appointment only.
