Description
Cashel Cemetery is located on the west part of Lot 26, Concession 6, in Markham Township, now the City of Markham. It’s on the east side of Kennedy Road, north of Elgin Mills Road East. The hamlet at this crossroads was once called Crosby’s Corners but later became known as Cashel.
James Rose donated one acre of land for a church and cemetery for use by the Presbyterians. St. Helen’s Church was built but by 1865 the church was closed and removed. The earliest burial is dated 1839, and the cemetery is now closed.
The transcription, published in 1993, is 20 pages long and includes a short history, photos, a map, the inscriptions and an index.
