Description

The Newmarket Cemetery is located on Lot 97, Concession 1E, Town of Newmarket. It is on the west side of Main Street, north of Davis Drive.

The first person laid to rest was Alfred Burns on July 5, 1869. Two of the more notable families in the cemetery are the family of Sir William Mulock and the Davis family – a family of politicians, philanthropists and business entrepreneurs, most notably the Davis Leather Co.

The cemetery was originally transcribed in 1997 and updates added through the years 2006 to 2010.

The transcription, published in 2011, is 444 pages long and includes a short history, maps of each section (9 maps in total), the inscriptions and an index.
