OverviewÂ
The Ontario Genealogical Society was formed in 1961 to encourage, bring together, and assist those interested in the pursuit of Ontario family history and to preserve our Ontario genealogical heritage. We seek to be recognized as the authority and leader in all aspects of Ontario-related family history research, preservation, and communication. The Ontario Genealogical Society has 26 Branches as well as 6 Special Interest Groups (SIGs) representing both geographic and topic research areas that shape Ontario. In 2019, we introduced a new brand name and logo to help differentiate us from other genealogical societies. The name Ontario Ancestors provides a more immediately recognizable name to the family history community, while the logo itself incorporates our legal and historical identity as The Ontario Genealogical Society.  You will see both of these names used in connection with our organization from time to time. Â
Â
MembershipÂ
Your annual Ontario Ancestors membership will expire one year from the date that you joined. A reminder will be sent out by email 30 days prior to the expiry date. You can renew your membership up to 60 days prior to your expiry date. Â
A Branch or SIG membership can be added at any time during the year, but all of your Branch/SIG memberships will expire at the same time as your society membership.Â
