Description

Byer Family Cemetery is located on Lot 23, Concession 8, in Markham Township, now the City of Markham. It is on the east side of Highway 48, about 1 km north of Major Mackenzie Drive. The cemetery is not visible from the road because of foliage.

The cemetery was established as a family burial ground in the 1840’s on part of the Byer farm. It is now connected to the Heise Hill Brethren in Christ Church on Woodbine Avenue in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville. As of the date of the transcription, the cemetery was still active.

The transcription, published in 1993, is 13 pages long and consists of a short history, a photo, a map, the inscriptions and an index.
