Description

St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cemetery is located on the west part of Lot 9, Concession 8, Markham Township, now the City of Markham. It’s on the south side of Rouge Street, east of Highway 48.

In 1862, a wood frame church was erected on this site, known as Vinegar Hill or Little Dublin. A new St. Patrick’s Church was built on Highway 7 in 1970, and in 1977 the old original church was torn down. The cemetery remains as a memorial to Markham’s pioneer Catholics.

The transcription, published in 1992, is 12 pages long and includes a brief history, photos, a map, the inscriptions and an index.
